OFF TO STATION FIRE NORTH OF GLENDALE/PASADENA, CALIFORNIA. Just released from Morris fire north of Azusa, CA. the Morris Fire will be 100% contained on monday so they began to release crews at 0700 hrs today. But the Station fire, also in the Angeles National Forest, is burning at an extreme rate. It started on Weds. and has burned almost 5,000 acres. The fire is in rough terrain and not accessible to vehicles. so crews will hike to points needed and begin diggin hand lines to restrict fire spread. Wind is only at 8mph. Rate of fire growth is extreme because of the steep slopes associated with the area. Once it gets a run on a slope it'll take off like no ones business. 1800 homes threatned. So almost all 12 crews from the southwest region that were released from Morris fire today are headed over to the Station fire about 60 miles west of Azusa, CA.
